Some of you might remember the bunch of colourful greeting cards I made last year it was the first time I made so many greeting cards. I even posted a video tutorial for it check it out here

Inspired by myself this year around the same time again I made similar bunch of New year greeting cards for all my friends cousins relatives almost everyone čÖé And you guessed it right this time also I made colourful cards with origami technique. When you make a whole bunch of them origami is the best technique and comes in handy in making interesting cards.

But this one is little tougher origami than last year yet sorry I couldn’t make a video tutorial for it. Bare with my step by step photographs. I have tried my best. I wanted to make lot of cards and wanted to make them in lesser time. You can even make this as a last minute gift. You hardly need much supplies just a origami colour paper and a tiny cardstock will do. Sounds easy isn’t it. Just follow the origami steps carefully. Shall we move on to the tutorial.New Year Greeting card

Supplies Required:

  • Origami Paper
  • Cardstock (Chart Paper)
  • Satin Ribbon
  • Colour Sketches
  • Craft Glue
  • Scissors

My Method :

  1. Take a Square Origami paper of any colour of your choice.
  2. Follow the steps below to get a foldable box kind of a thing.Origami steps
  3. Mine is a very tiny box. But I liked it that way, If you wanted a bigger box take a big squareFinal Step
  4. Cut a tiny satin ribbon to tie around and secure the box from opening (I took red colour paper so I chose white ribbon to match the santa effect čÖé )Satin
  5. Once the outer box is ready we are almost done. The difficult part is over
  6. Next step is to prepare a tiny cardstock to fit inside this origami box. This is where we write down the wishesWishes
  7. I wanted to keep it simple so this tiny message card was enough for me. If you are not satisfied you can make a bigger box and a bigger Wish card
  8. You can stick this card inside the box, but I left it inside without sticking instead I stuck a photo behind the card. An old happy memory with the person whom we are giving the greeting cardBunch of them
  9. Thats it ! I added a small choclate inside the box and tied the satin ribbon
  10. My teeny tiny New year gift ready !!New Year Greeting card

Handmade Greeting cards

Once upon a time people used to send wishes through greeting cards to friends and relatives for festivals and birthdays. Nowadays no one is patient enough to send them. Almost all our wishes are through phone calls and emails. But we would never get the same charm and happiness in the electronic cards. Receiving a special greeting will always amuse us. Isn’t it ? čÖéDIYA

How many of us still save the old greeting cards we received ? When we see those old greeting cards we will go back to those happy memories. Not always expensive gifts make people happy, the best ever gift till date is a simple greeting card with hand written wishes from our loved ones :).

Practically we can’t use a greeting card, that may not be a useful gift. But think of the moment you receive a card specially made for you ? The instant smile we get on our face thats a wonderful feeling čÖé isn’t it ? When the shop bought greeting cards can bring us so much happiness think about the hand made cards specially made for you. Won’t it be very special ? Why don’t we give such happiness to our loved ones.

Try making simple greeting cards and present them along with gifts. More than how the card looks it is the time you have spent to make it, your involvement to give a handmade gift all these will amuse them and make them happy čÖé Trust me no expensive gifts can make them feel so special and happy like a handmade gift čÖé Thats the reason I always make handmade gifts.

The specialty about greeting cards is you can gift them for any occasion. You don’t even need an occasion/reason to give one. Simply send a card and share the love čÖé I think I should stop now lets move on to the tutorial to make handmade greeting cards.cute greetings

There is no rule or steps to make greeting cards. Anything you make will do. Today┬áI will show you how I made these tiny little charms. These are the diwali cards I made for my buddy and cousins čÖé I gave them along with diwali sweets that was a cute surprise for them čÖé I felt so happy čÖé┬á

Supplies Required :

  • Card stock / Chart Paper
  • OHP sheet
  • Glass paints
  • Glass outliner
  • Glue
  • Glitter (optional)

My Method:

  1. I made lamp shaped card so first I cut out the shapes in the chart sheet or cardstock. Normal chart may be flimsy. You can stick two charts back to back to make it sturdy. I used Old Invitation cards instead. Fold the chart draw the shape along the folding so that you get two sheets attached Cut the shape
  2. Cut out the same shape in OHP sheet. Leave a small extra flap at the folding end (left side) to stick it to the chart.
  3. Reverse the OHP sheet (the flap should be on your right side) and Trace/Draw the Diya design using glass out-liner. Start from the top and finish the design.
  4. Allow it to dry for 10 to 15 minsGlass painting
  5. After the outline is dry start filling colours inside the shapes.
  6. While pouring the colours avoid bubbles. If suppose you got bubbles break them with a needle or pin.
  7. Add glitters for extra charm. After filling the colours let it dry for 20 to 30 mins.
  8. Reverse it and stick the extra flap to the back side of the greeting.( If you are not able to follow me look at the photos)Stick Flap
  9. Done ? Great ! you have made your first handmade card a wonderful gift feel proud ! čÖéDIYA
  10. Now Open it and fill your hand written wishes and present it to your loved ones čÖéwishes

Mine looks little childish never mind čÖé┬áTrust me whatever you scribble they will like it because you have made it specially for them čÖé┬áMake your own cards and tell me how you liked it.
And last but not least this one I made for a friend of mine for her birthday. This is one of my favourite card čÖéBirthday card
