DIY Quilled Monogram

Happy New Year Buddies 🙂 🙂 Have a wonderful year ahead !

One of my cousins was going abroad for higher studies. He wanted to meet us all before he left so I planned to make him some personal gift that he can take along and keep with him and thus the idea stuck me to make a monogram frame and wanted to share it with you guys. Anyone will like their gift associated with something related to them either their photo or their name so I chose to use his Initials to make a monogram gift which he might like. So this is how I made the monogram gift

R monogram

Supplies Required :

  • Plain cardstock
  • Quilling paper
  • Quilling Needle
  • Water Colour paint (Orange)
  • 3D Liners (Black , Silver Glitter)
  • Pencil
  • Craft Glue

Supplies

My Method:

  1. A neat and rough sketch of the monogram should be drawn on the card stock initially
  2. I painted the main monogram with orange water colour paint and left the other decorations to be done with quilling paper and rhine stonesMonogram drawing
  3. So the first step is to paint the monogram
  4. A 3D black outline for the monogram was my next step It highlighted the orange colour well. Let it dry for next 15 mins
  5. By the time it is getting dried let us make ready of the quilled pieces
  6. My design was simple It had a small flower and a few leaves with a string running around the monogramsteps
  7. So lets start making the leaves, a total of six leaves were made with green colour quilling paper
  8. These leaves has to pinched and twitched in different directions as per the design
  9. Next comes the flower same as the leaves the petals were made from red colour quilling paper
  10. Once all the parts were done stick them on the cardstock as per the designIMG_20150807_094518_1
  11. And decorate it with the rhine stones and add some sparkle to it
  12. I also added silver glitter on the orange water colour to make it shineIMG_20150807_093927_1
  13. Almost done let it dry and sit and adore your work 🙂
  14. Frame it and wrap it as a beautiful gift !IMG_20150808_095111_1

How to draw with a colour pencil

Hello Buddies 🙂

How are you doing its been a loooooooong time I have posted something here. Sorry for leaving my space unattended and keeping you all waiting. I have been held up with some exams and couldn’t post anything here. I almost forgot “Happy Ramzan” to all my Muslim buddies 🙂 Wishes and Apologies done now shall we move on to what I have in store for you. I wasn’t posting anything lately but I have been making few crafts now and then to keep me sane ;). So this week lets start with a lighter and easier post.

Colour Pencil drawing

In school every child might have used a colour pencil. It might have been our fancy to colour every colouring page given by our craft teacher. We get fascinated by the crayons and colour pencils when we were young. As we grew up we moved to better colouring means like paint water colour and many more. We have left behind the colour pencils and thought they were for kids and we think we have out grown it.

Its never a sin to go back to your childhood and relive those happiness. It makes us feeling good. Same way I thought of doing a colour pencil drawing in memory of my childhood colouring books. But this time the colouring was a bit matured :). Its not a bad idea anyway It turned out to be a pretty nice drawing. Let me show you how I made one !

Supplies Required :

  • Card Stock
  • Colour Pencil
  • Ordinary drawing pencil
  • Eraser

My Method :

  1. Since we are grown up now we will draw our own drawing instead of the colouring books
  2. So the first step is to trace the design in a simple pencil outline drawingPencil sketch full
  3. Once the design is complete slightly rub it with eraser It should be seen but not so prominentpencil sketch
  4. Now start colouring with the colour pencils
  5. I used only two colours. SInce mine is a floral design, Green for leaves and Pink for the flowers thats it I meant it to be simple
  6. First Green outline to the stem and leaves draw with little pressuretrace outline green
  7. Then colour the insides of the outline without pressure ever so lightly
  8. Next is the flower I drew the outlines darker and made few places opaque with thick colourTrace outline pink
  9. Then the left out part inside the flower was coloured pink but lighter like we did in the leavesComplete shading
  10. We are almost done. Now I made it a little darker here and there few finishing touches and I am amazed by my pretty drawing myself.Darken it
  11. Really a good drawing with such simple tools
  12. Go grab your set of colour pencils and make your pencil drawings in colour 🙂
  13. Have fun and do share your beautiful drawingsfill shade

Happy drawing 🙂

DIY – Old light bulb vase

Hello Buddies 🙂

I am back with yet another recycle craft 🙂 This time I am going to use old light bulb . Glass vases are always pretty and charming. Instead of buying expensive glass vases. I thought of making use of the old bulbs as vases. Actually my brother gave me the idea and helped me in the difficult part of the project.light bulb vase

Working with glass is always risky and ends up on accidents. SO BE CAREFUL with it. Ok now off to the tutorial. Here’s how I made it.

Supplies required:

  • Old light bulb.
  • Scissors
  • String
  • Empty Cellophane tape roll
  • Plierslight bulb vaselight bulb vase

My Method:

  1. The most tricky and difficult part of this project is breaking and removing the lighting stuff inside the bulb. We just need empty shell
  2. Thanks to my brother and buddy 🙂 They did this part for me
  3. Safety first remember you are working with glass.
  4. First break this black material in the bulb with sharp scissors by slowly wiggling through it.light bulb vase
  5. Dig your scissors in as deep as you can and gently break the inner part then remove all those technical stuff with pliers and let the excess fall out the opening onto a newspaperInside the bulb
  6. Got the empty bulb ? The most Difficult part is over 🙂light bulb vase
  7. Now remove the two small metal projections that holds the bulb in the holder with the help of pliers.light bulb vase
  8. You will get two holes where the projections were present
  9. Connect a string through these holes to hang the bulb.light bulb vase
  10. Pour some water in it. Get some fresh cut flowers or small water plants and put them in the bulb light bulb vase
  11. I have put money plant. They grow easily in water and requires less care. Don’t believe me ? See for yourself 🙂 This one grew in 8 months time 🙂Money Plant
  12. Find a perfect spot and hang the bulb light bulb vase
  13. In case you don’t find a perfect spot to hang your planter/vase prepare a stand and keep it on your table 🙂light bulb vase
  14. To make the stand take any used cellophane tape roll and place the bulb on it. If you are worried about slipping of bulb, you can better stick it to the bulb.light bulb vase
  15. Beautiful recycled vase ready !! 🙂light bulb vase

Happy Recycling 🙂
